Before you begin the next step, you'll definitely want to have your character of choice fully upgraded. Try to have as many health/skill/devil trigger upgrades as possible to make this easier. Just like in the first Devil May Cry game, you're going to be moving up in difficulties here. If you decide you like her better than Dante, you can use her for most of the remaining achievements. She's a fairly good character, so I recommend playing through with her here.
There's an achievement called Barehand Beauty for beating the game using her. Just run through the game normally as Dante here and buy as many purple/blue orbs and upgrades as you can and complete as many secret missions as you can along the way.Īfter beating the game on normal, you'll unlock another playable character: Trish. The normal mode is comparable to easy on the other two, so appreciate it while you can. You're going to get a break here, because Devil May Cry 2 is the easiest of the three on-disc games. Refer to the guide below on a good location for this.
Hot As Hell and Thunderstruck require you to hit the S rank win a combo with a specific weapon. If you don't have this yet, refer to the list in the achievement guide for the requirements and find a mission you think you can achieve this on. Smashing Sensation requires you to receive an overall S rank on a mission. If you don't have it yet, refer to the guide below for some good orb farming spots. Redemption requires 50,000 cumulative red orbs. The only achievements not specifically covered by this roadmap so far are Redemption, Hot As Hell, Thunderstruck, and Smashing Sensation. If you're having trouble, remember that you can use items to aid you - your rating on this mode is irrelevant and your only goal for this step is to beat the game on Dante Must Die difficulty for Combustible!!!. However, with some perseverance you should be able to make it through this mode. This is the hardest difficulty and you'll most likely die a lot. While on mission two in this playthrough, go for Untouchable as well.ĭante Must Die will be unlocked upon completing hard difficulty. Technically you could do this at any point, but if you have yet to get enough red orbs for all of the upgrades this will be a great opportunity. Take a break from these obscenely hard modes for a little bit and get The Devil Made Me Do It using the guide below. In addition, make sure you get I Read You Like a Book using this guide so you won't have to deal with anything other than surviving on Dante Must Die difficulty. On this run, if you haven't fully upgraded your character yet you should go for The Secret's Out (for completing all secret missions), Blue Devil (for maxing out your health bar), and The Devil's in the Details (for purchasing all skills). Since upgrades carry over from normal, hard won't be much more difficult. You should earn all of the story-related achievements and a few miscellaneous achievements to boot. Also be sure not to buy any yellow orbs - doing so will void your chance for The Devil Made Me Do It until your next playthrough. To do that, refer to the blue orbs guide here, the secret missions guide here, and use your red orbs sparingly (don't buy regeneration items and instead focus on skills and health/devil gauge power-ups). In this run your main goals should be gathering all of the collectibles that power Dante up (health, devil gauge, skills). On your first playthrough make sure you're on normal (don't accept the game's offers to put you on easy automatic mode). If you'd like to play them in order of difficulty to acclimate your skill, play two, then one, then three. However, to keep the roadmap simple and organized, I'm ordering the games by their chronological release.
