The front desk staff member who checked us in just wasn’t nice or welcoming at all. Check-in at the front desk was definitely the most disappointing service experience we had at this property (and since our encounters with staff were limited, each one mattered more than they might during other hotel stays). It’s all very open between there and the front desk, with no real seating areas until you pass the front desk and reach seating near the elevators.

The lobby area when you first walk in is very nice, with high ceilings and displays of fresh flowers. He recommended that we get a backup physical key since the mobile keys don’t always work well, especially in common areas like the elevator where a key is required for access to each floor. I mentioned that we had already done online check-in and probably didn’t even need to stop at the front desk, but he pointed us in the direction of the front desk anyway. When we arrived at the hotel, one of the doormen greeted us immediately and offered to assist with taking luggage to our room, but we declined, since we didn’t have all that much and it was all easy to take ourselves. I’ve found that the check-in and arrival process on the Marriott app are often glitchy, so it was nice that it seemed to work properly at this property, actually notifying us when our room was ready and providing the mobile key.

The app also provided a mobile key that we could use to go directly to our room. Arrival Experience: The day before our arrival, I completed online check-in on the Marriott app, and as soon as we landed in Denver around noon on our arrival day, I had a notification from the app saying that our room was ready and that we’d been upgraded, which we were very happy about (I’m a Platinum Marriott Bonvoy member). However, we were also barely at the hotel, and nothing went wrong with our stay, so I wouldn’t hesitate to come back again in the right circumstances. The only negatives were that the hotel felt a bit bland overall, and the high level of service that I’ve come to expect from the brand wasn’t as palpable as we’ve experienced at other properties.

The hotel is generally nice and upscale in the way that all Ritz-Carltons are, and a great room upgrade made our stay even better. "My wife and I recently spent one night at the Ritz-Carlton Denver when we were on our way to Aspen, and we had a very quick, but enjoyable stay.
